For some apprentices, becoming a member of CLMAP was their first exposure to the Cherokee language. Amber Allen, who is in her second year with the program, grew up off the reservation and did not have a Cherokee speaker in her family. For community members that follow CLMAP on social media, she is the voice talent for ᎤᏁᎦ ᎤᏩᎾ (Uneg Uwan). She, along with her peers, create entertaining short videos that they write, produce, and publish as a way of giving back to the community.

This type of arrangement between the employer and the apprentice is promising. There have been interested parties who wanted to join the program but could not leave their jobs, benefits, and tenure. Currently, the apprentices are grant-funded positions with less than 40 hours a week. There is a renewed sense of hope and affirmation for the apprentices with the passing of Res. No. 410 (2022). On Thursday, Oct. 20, Principal Chief Richard G. Sneed ratified the resolution, which creates 28 full-time apprentice positions. Fourteen of those positions are dedicated to the Dawonisi program in Snowbird and the remaining 12 will be housed at KPEP.
What does this mean for the apprentices? For Dannenah Calhoun, who joined the program in August, she will be able to provide for her family. She commented that following her last paycheck, she was 13 cents in the negative. It was the low pay and hours that led to discussions last year between Bo Lossiah, Curriculum and Instruction supervisor and Chief Sneed and with Bo Taylor, Snowbird/Cherokee County Culture and Language Program manager.

"As our new celebrity apprentice, heproved to have the winning strategy throughout the intense schedule and toughboardrooms. He was also able to win $1,554,072 for his charity, American RedCross. I congratulate him on his win - Trace is a star all the way and nowjoins Piers Morgan, Joan Rivers, Bret Michaels, John Rich and Arsenio Hall aswinners of the toughest reality show on television today. I'd also like tosalute Penn, who was also a very impressive player."
Inthe episode before the finale, Trump shocked the final four contestants bycalling them back to the boardroom just minutes after the previous task ended. Afterasking all four contestants to make their case, he chose Adkins and Jillette asthe finalists. Trump then issued the last, and most challenging task - to createa signature Good & DeLish premium ice cream flavor to be sold in Walgreensand Duane Reade stores, then design packaging, produce a promotional video andsell tickets to an ice cream social event. Apparently he was such a great friend that a month later, Trump donated $10,000 to Schwarzenegger to help pay off debts from his 2006 re-election campaign. The donation got Schwarzenegger in hot water, as political watchdogs saw it as him using his celebrity status to solve his political problems.
Apprenticeship is training that is designed to prepare an individual for a career in a craft of their choosing. Apprentices develop the technical skills on the job site while at the same time exposed to the theoretical application in the classroom. Currently, there are more than 800 apprenticeable occupations in the U.S. and over 200 registered apprenticeable occupations in California. Apprenticeship, known as the other four (4) year degree has many benefits to both employee as well as employer. Apprenticeship, utilized in the building trades for decades, is a proven method of developing a qualified workforce. Receiving a paycheck while being trained in a high-skill occupation that has a very respectable salary is a fantastic option for those not interested in pursuing a four (4) year college degree. For those apprentices enrolled in a California Registered Apprenticeship Program, tuition costs are usually waived. With the escalating costs of college tuition, the apprenticeship model becomes even more attractive.
Apprenticeship can be applied in many different disciplines and occupations as there are literally hundreds of apprenticeable options. Presently, SCCCD has registered apprenticeship programs in Automotive, Advanced Manufacturing and Food Processing industries. Disciplines consist of Heavy Duty Automotive, Welding, Machining, Maintenance Mechanic, and Food Safety. Maintenance Mechanic being one of the largest programs as industry across the region is realizing there is a shortage of skilled people trained for such a high-skill high-demand occupation.
Known for the concept of earn while you learn, apprentices are full-time employees and part-time students. The apprenticeship model is one where the apprentice works a full-time job in their trade and attends class outside of their normal work hours. The classroom instruction supports what the apprentice is learning on the job site.
1. Wider option for the apprentices-integration with other schemes - Courses approved by State Government/Central Government such as PMKVY, DDU-GKY etc. shall be linked with apprenticeship training. These courses will be given status of optional trades & the relevant practical content for on-the-job training shall be added by respective course approving authority.
3. Involvement of States/UTs - As per the Apprentices Act, monitoring of apprenticeship training in State Public Sector Undertakings and Private Sector Establishments is done by the respective State Governments. States have a very important role in implementing the programme as most of the smaller Industries and MSMEs come under the State jurisdiction. Hence sensitizing the states & State Skill Development Missions (SSDMs) & also officers up to the District level, on the intent of the reforms becomes critical & a matter of priority. The District Skilling Committees being promoted by both the Central and State governments will be mandated to identify apprenticeship opportunities in their district and ensure appropriate utilisation of same.
4. Promoter and Facilitators/Third Party Aggregators (TPA) - Since this scheme involves multiple stakeholders, the role of facilitators or Third Party Aggregators (TPAs) becomes important for mobilizing the apprentices, mapping their preferences with the demand from the establishments for apprenticeship opportunities posted on the portal, and helping the establishment in identifying Basic Training Providers. TPAs are engaged as per the guidelines issued by MSDE for their selection. 2ff7e9595c
